A Balhannah property offers a slice of the good life
A Balhannah property is the ultimate rural escape.
Trevor and Pamela Lee purchased the Adelaide Hills property at 29 Wenzel Rd, almost 20 years ago, after looking for the perfect acreage retreat for close to three years.
“We saw this house on a Monday and it was auctioned the following weekend, and that was it for us,” Mr Lee recalls.
“We loved the total setting (of the place) and the views.
“It had a country feel but was still close enough to town for the coffee fix and the city if you really need it.”

Adelaide suburbs top the nation’s property searches
Set on 14.3ha, the property features a four-bedroom home with a wraparound veranda, two living areas, two bathrooms and a study.
All rooms have views across the countryside, including a large dam with two resident duck families.
There is also a solar-heated swimming pool with a covered pavilion, a tennis court, bores and rainwater tanks, seven main paddocks with electric fencing, a 9.88kW solar system, a covered vegetable patch with a chicken coop, and a selection of fruit trees and vegetables.
“It’s an organic veggie garden and I just loved growing our own food,” Mrs Lee says.
“We’re actually self-sufficient in fruit for the whole year because we preserve them. With the veggie patch, we’re also self-sufficient for around five to six months of the year.”
The couple say they are selling as they had bought a new and larger property in the Hills.
“The opportunity came along to buy a bigger property, so we’re moving and are looking forward to the next chapter in our life,” Mr Lee says.
“Of course, we’ll be sad to go but we think it’s time for someone else to enjoy this property. We think a family would love it here as there’s a pool, a tennis court and lots of land to run around.”
The property is for sale through Harcourts Williams in conjunction with Hunt Lifestyle. It has a price guide of $1.5 million to $1.65 million.
