WHEN Ruma Mundi was in year 11 her trip to an important exam in India was interrupted by a bomb blast.

Arriving back at her father’s office after escaping the explosion, he said to her, “what are you doing here?”

When she replied “I need to get to school” he taught her a life lesson which has directed her to becoming a leading Sydney real estate agent.

”You made your way back when you could have made you way forward,” he said.

More than 3000 agents have descended on the Coast for AREC 2019.

Ms Mundi faced challenge after challenge since moving to Australia at the age of 22, with escaping arranged marriages one of the reasons for her move.

Ms Mundi told her story to more than 3000 real estate professionals at the Australasian Real Estate Conference at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday.

From motherhood and returning to work just three weeks after caesarean, to getting locked out of her own office by a business partner and having to start an agency from scratch again, Ms Mundi had an inspiring and powerful message.

“Through all challenges, through all changes … you make your way forward,” the First National North Western director said.

AREC is a two-day event being held on the Gold Coast where industry experts will hear from 21 speakers and learn how to navigate the cooling market conditions being felt across the country.
