At home with Adelaide 36ers’ Ramone Moore
I’m a professional basketballer who has played for the Adelaide 36ers for the past two seasons. Before playing in the NBL, I have played in European League in Lithuania, Ukraine, Hungary, Italy and Israel, before being recruited to Melbourne United and then moving to Adelaide. I am also a father of two beautiful girls.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS/BEST KNOWN FOR …
Basketball. I was honoured to be awarded the NBL’s Best Sixth Man Award and the 36ers Coaches Award last season. Another special moment for me during my career was when
I changed my basketball number to 10 to commemorate my late cousin, who was tragically killed in a car accident at just nine years old.
I’VE LIVED IN MY HOME FOR …
Just over eight months. Due to the basketball season, I live half the year in my hometown of Philadelphia, in the US, and then the other half in Adelaide.
MY HOME IS …
A modern beachside apartment. I live by myself but my teammate Jacob Wiley and his family live in the same apartment building.
I LOVE MY HOME BECAUSE …
I get to live in a beautiful part of Adelaide. It’s close to Henley Beach as well as all the amazing surrounding cafes, restaurants and shops. My apartment is also close to training, so it’s very convenient.
BUT I STILL NEED TO …
Buy a bigger TV so I can watch game highlights.
MY DECORATING STYLE IS …
Unfortunately, my apartment doesn’t reflect my decorating style because it was already furnished when I moved in. I like it though because it’s minimalistic and modern.
I COLLECT …
Foreign currency and basketball shoes.
Living room and bedroom.
The shower, my bed, the TV.
IN MY GARDEN I HAVE …
I have a balcony rather than a garden.
WHEN I GET HOME AT NIGHT …
I watch TV or take a shower.
AT WEEKENDS I LIKE TO …
I’m a neat freak and very domesticated, so I like to catch up on my laundry and clean up around the house. I also enjoy getting the chance to cook homemade meals.
MY FIRST CAR WAS …
A Buick Lacrosse.
I LIKE TO LISTEN TO …
RnB and hip hop.
AT THE MOMENT, I AM READING …
I’m not reading anything at the moment, but I usually read sports autobiographies.
CLEAN FREAK OR MESSY BESSIE?
ON MY WISHLIST IS …
I have two beautiful daughters, so would love a son to add to the family.
WHEN I’M HOME I LIKE TO COOK …
I love cooking breakfast. On the weekend if I don’t have early training, you’ll find me cooking up bacon and eggs.
After training I always head to the Warehouse Cafe, Welland, with my teammates. They know all my favourites and the staff are always friendly.
WHEN I WAS A CHILD I WANTED TO BE …
An NBA player.
FAVOURITE CHILDHOOD MEMORY
Playing American football and basketball. I used to go from one sport to the next, so mum made me pick one.
IF I COULD CHANGE CAREER NOW I WOULD BE …
A property developer.
FAVOURITE SA HOLIDAY SPOT OR ACTIVITY
Cleland National Park.
DREAM HOLIDAY DESTINATION
FAVOURITE SPORTS TEAM
Temple University Basketball team.
SOMETHING YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS?
Establishing a business after basketball.
At home with Adelaide Festival chair Judy Potter
Who wants a relaxed coastal lifestyle?
MY NEIGHBOURS ARE …
Friendly and pretty cool. I live in the same apartment complex as Jacob Wiley, so it’s always great to have him close by.
I COULDN’T LIVE WITHOUT …
IF I COULD AFFORD IT I WOULD LIVE …
In Los Angeles.
HOME MEANS …
Comfort, relaxation and peace of mind.
