MY HOME IS A …
1950s post war house with an extension designed by my husband Alex.
I LOVE MY HOME BECAUSE …
It reflects who we are, it’s warm and inviting, and has an eclectic mix of old and new. My studio is also at the back of my property and I love being able to work from my home, looking out to my garden. Its one of my favourite places.
BUT I STILL NEED TO …
Add another bathroom for my soon-to-be teenagers.
MY DECORATING STYLE
Warm, textured and creative.
Our new puppy Pablo (Picasso).
I COLLECT …
Other artists’ work; glass and some people may say dogs!
At home with Finesse Models’ director Brigette Mitchell
Our dining table as we love to cook and entertain, and this is where as a family we sit and have the best conversation over a meal.
My new studio up in the garden of our home. I feel very lucky to be able to work from this beautiful space my husband designed for me. It was built by local builders Project Reno.
Our Annette Bezor painting.
IN MY GARDEN I HAVE …
Some very large mature trees that are like our natural umbrellas. We have lots of plants that are green all year round as well as a lovely flowering cottage type garden. Our garden has many different elements and layers to it that create beautiful spaces to sit and entertain.
WHEN I GET HOME AT NIGHT …
I start cooking dinner, help the kids with their homework and catch up with my husband. In winter, the ugg boots are on immediately.
AT WEEKENDS I LIKE TO …
Hike up the trails behind our house with my family and my dogs.
WHEN I’M HOME I LIKE TO COOK …
Malaysian food from recipes given to me by my late mother-in-law who was the most fabulous woman and cook! It’s nice to be able to cook food from my husband’s family
heritage and share this with our kids.
I still love going back to Amalfi. Been going there for years, my husband and I had our first lunch date there and now we take our kids back.
MY FIRST CAR WAS …
A Volkswagen Beetle.
I LIKE TO LISTEN TO …
All sorts. My husband collects vinyl records and plays a huge variety of music at home. When I’m painting, I like listening to Chill Radio on Apple Music.
AT THE MOMENT I AM READING …
A Way of Living – The art of Willem DeKooning about the abstract expressionist artist and his life’s work.
ON MY WISHLIST IS …

WHEN I WAS A CHILD I WANTED TO BE …
An artist or a vet.
FAVOURITE CHILDHOOD MEMORY
Is family holidays around Australia all piled into our family’s Blue Kingswood station wagon. I would always sit in the middle of mum and dad in the front on the bench seat. My three siblings and I still laugh about some of the funny stories from those trips.
CLEAN FREAK OR MESSY BESSIE?
Messy Bessie when I’m painting but I have to say and my kids would say a clean freak at home.
FAVOURITE SA HOLIDAY SPOT
Visiting wineries in any of our fabulous wine regions in this state, particularly the Adelaide Hills, which is so close.
DREAM HOLIDAY DESTINATION
Would be Morocco and India … I can imagine I would be completely inspired by all that colour!
SOMETHING YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS?
Well my art school has now been running for 10 years, so maybe another 10 successful years would be good. I’d also love to be a finalist in the Wynne Prize for Landscapes … but that’s totally up to the judges.
MY NEIGHBOURS ARE …
Our friends. We are very lucky in our little street!
