Cheapest suburbs in Townsville for rentals
VACANCY rates are still tight in Townsville following the floods earlier this year which drove rental prices upwards on the back of low stock and high demand.
The Townsville Bulletin has collated a list of the cheapest suburbs to rent in the region for those willing to relocate to get a better deal on the cost of living.

CoreLogic data shows in the year to April, units in Mysterton were the cheapest dwellings for renters with the median price being $198 per week.
Although on realestate.com.au units for rent in the area are currently scarce, with only one currently listed on Kings Road.
For an extra two dollars, people can rent units in Currajong and Heatley for an average of $200 per week.
The suburbs both have proximity to town and are close to major shopping centres and local schools.
Graham Lynham from the rental team at Graham Lynham currently has a two-bedroom unit at the 1/9 Narangi Street in Heatley listed for $190 per week.
“It’s in a set of two-bedroom flats and it’s downstairs, Mr Lynham said.
“There’s not a lot of stuff available around in that price range after the floods.
“This particular unit has been vacant for about two months, it’s a demographic that we struggle to fill with quality applicants.”
The next cheapest suburb for rentals is Hyde Park, with units in the area being tenanted for a median of $213 per week.
Hermit Park, Rasmussen, Oonoonba and Wulguru all have units for rent at less than $230 per week on average.
