Long weekend disrupts auction energy

The home is on 1472sqm of land.

The $10 million sale was 9-11 Birdwood Ave, Collaroy, a 1920s former holiday home, sitting on 1472sqm of land with a 36m frontage to the beach reserve and a depth of 40m.

According to records the five-bedroom property last traded for $605,000 in 1986.

Michael King, of Ray White Prestige, said the prime beachside position was undercapitalised and suited development.

It last sold for $605,000 in 1986.

It’s easy to see why it was so popular.

“The buyers are still considering options but recognised it was a rare, one-off opportunity and unlikely to be replicated on the beaches,” he said.

Lorn did come to market two years ago and even though there was strong interest at the time the owner withdraw the property from sale. Mr King said the owner was so emotionally attached to the home she couldn’t let it go then but now is reconciled to the fact that the large house it too much work for her to maintain.

The home is in largely original condition.

The property sold under the hammer last Thursday after 35 days on the market.

Birdwood Ave is a short street with a due north view over the beach. The last sale in the coveted aveune was five years ago.
