It had originally been listed with price hopes of $1.55 million to $1.65 million.
Great Ocean Road, Apollo Bay agent Darren Brimacombe said the buyers were upgrading from their existing holiday house in town.
He said there weren’t many properties in the area that could match this one in terms of scale and finish, which resulted in interest from both Melbourne and overseas.
“It was architect designed and had views over both Marengo and Apollo Bay,” Mr Brimacombe said.
“The house also has a separate block at the back which is subdivided.”
The four-bedroom house is split over four levels, with the main open-plan living area positioned on the first floor to maximise its views through extensive glazing.
Several decks create opportunities for outdoor entertaining.
Mr Brimacombe said interest from regional Victorian buyers in the Apollo Bay property market had increased in recent years, while overseas interest mainly came from expats.
