“I grew up on a farm in a homestead which had a similar style to it, and I just wanted a character property,” he says. “When I walked through the front door and heard the screen door screech open it brought back a lot of memories and I had to have it.”

The couple have renovated the home throughout, respecting its original structure but giving it a contemporary feel.

“It’s been re-roofed, got new gutters, we’ve painted inside and out, polished the flooring and done a lot in the garden which has been terraced and we’ve added bluestone retaining walls,” Mr Farley says. “Living here is amazing. It’s a beautiful setting, and from the kitchen you look out and all you see are trees and the creek running through the gully. It’s beautiful.”

“We’re sad to be leaving it because we’ve loved it here, but we’re moving interstate,” Mr Farley says. “It would be a great home for younger couples, a family with young kids, some downsizers or anyone looking for a Hills escape.”
