IT IS a house Greg and Jo McKitrick fell in love with when they first saw 3 Woodburn Place, Ferny Hills on the cover of the North-West News 17 years ago.

The original North-West News story from February 2002 which prompted Greg and Jo McKitrick to buy 3 Woodburn Place, Ferny Hills.

Now the couple are hoping someone else will feel the same when they view the listing online.

View the property at its next open for inspection on Saturday, April 27 from 12pm-12.30pm. The house is listed by Bradley Butten of Professionals Priority Ferny Hills.

“We had been transferred to Brisbane (from Toowoomba) and were looking for a house that was the best of the city but in a rural environment,” Mr McKitrick said.

“It was the House of the Week and we rang up to organise an inspection and the agent said there’s an open house on the weekend.

“I said, I want to buy a house today.”

The 1774sq m property on top of a ridge was two-years-old at the time and in need of landscaping work.

New rock gardens and level grassed areas are a feature of the backyard.

The couple created terraced gardens and grassy slopes with water slides for the grandkids at Christmas.

“The house feels part of nature and we designed a number of different ways to get down to the lower terrace area, so there are rock steps and wooden steps and pathways, and all sorts of other ways.”

Recent renovations have included a new kitchen and bi-fold doors in the family room, while the house has been repainted inside and out.
