The investor went head-to-head with buyers’ agent Tony Slack and earned the right to negotiate when his top offer of $674,000 fell just short of the mark.
The property had been advertised with a price guide of $590,000 to $640,000.
Auctioneer Dale Whitford opened proceedings with a $580,000 vendor bid and the two parties needed no further encouragement once they put their hands up.
Whitford, Newtown agent Heidi Trempel said “cute” was an apt description for the cottage, which is just around the corner from Sacred Heart College.
The house, on 366sq m of land, has an open-plan rear living area and a side driveway with a single garage.
