This four-bedroom house at 23 Robertson Place, Fig Tree Pocket is for sale now.

DESIGNING 23 Robertson Place at Fig Tree Pocket has been about keeping promises.

Barbara and Bill Todd had come from densely populated Hong Kong with their two children, and space was a luxury they did not have.

“We had promised the kids that they would each have a large bedroom and that we would have a pool and they were terribly excited about that,” Mrs Todd said.

“We’d been renting in Hong Kong so we’d never been allowed to change the colour of the walls.”

The 4100sq m block they found by the banks of the Brisbane River has given them the space, and the two-level architect designed house they built on it has allowed for separation.

The private property overlooks the Brisbane River.

On the top level, the master bedroom, with private balconies, an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, links to the dining area via a study.

Two covered decks on either side of the living room offer seasonal outdoor entertaining options while the wood fireplace is ready to take on the coldest winter’s night.

Downstairs has a family room that links the guest wing and kitchenette to the kids bedroom wing where two large bedrooms overlook the landscaped gardens with access to a large bathroom with spa, a study, and storage area.

“The upstairs has a nice flow through,” Mrs Todd said.

“We’ve got the pool at the front of the house and you can open the doors and walk through the kitchen and dining area to the deck that overlooks the river.

The pool has a perfect view over the 4100sq m property.

“With young kids, there is that element of separation because our bedroom is on the upper floor where the children’s bedrooms are downstairs, they have a view but they have that element of separation.”

The property is close to boat ramps, the Centenary Bridge and the opposite bank is parkland that links to the Rocks Riverside Park.

Alex Jordan of McGrath Estate Agents — Paddington is taking the property to market and has an open inspection on June 1 from 12pm-12.30pm.
