Robin Hood Antiques and Sip & Bite cafe have sold in Canterbury.

Prominent antique dealer Robin Kelly has sold her set of historic Canterbury Rd shops after 48 years working from the quaint retail strip.

The Robin Hood Antiques shop and its neighbouring Sip & Bite cafe sold for an undisclosed price after three months on the market. It’s understood they changed hands for close to the combined $1.5 million asking price.

Ms Kelly recently closed the shop where she sold vintage items and hired them out to film and TV crews.

Antique dealer Robin Kelly owned the two stores for 40 years.

The shops are believed to be some of the oldest in the suburb.

The professional singer and heritage advocate said kitchenalia and furniture from Robin Hood had made their way into beloved 1995 flick Babe.

Helen Mirren’s 2018 supernatural horror movie Winchester also featured “a huge stained-glass window” sourced from her store.

An antique bed from Ms Kelly’s shop also popped up in Paul Hogan miniseries Anzacs.

Trinkets inside the shop were often rented to film productions.

Many of the shop’s rare items will be sold off in a public auction held on-site on July 14.

The 1888-built buildings are heritage protected and believed to be some of the oldest on the street.

Assetxcel Victoria agent Charles Sava said he did not know what the local buyer had planned for the shops.

“Whoever has bought it will need to retain at least the frontage of the property because of the heritage status,” Mr Sava said.

He said he did not believe the commercial one-zoned shops were bought by a developer, who could have added three to four storeys on top or built on the land behind.
