Killara’s own Gone With The Wind mansion hits the market
A stunning Killara mansion that would not be out of place on the set of Gone With The Wind, has come to market.
The home, at 55 Stanhope Rd, is owned by Steve and Fiona Mallyon. Mr Mallyon has held a number of senior executive roles with Australian and international mining and natural resources companies.

The couple recently bought the six-bedroom Northbridge waterfront home of former HSBC chief John Dickinson for more than $14 million.
Darren Curtis, of Ken Jacobs Christie’s International Real Estate — Double Bay, sold them the home, and has now been appointed to sell the couple’s luxury Killara home.
The five-bedroom beauty is being sold via expressions of interest. It has a guide of $6,500,000-$7,000,000 and inspection is by appointment.
“I’m fortunate enough to see many well-built homes and for me, this is amongst the best I’ve seen,” he said.
The home was built in 1991 and designed by Harvey Little, and sprawls over a level 1235sqm with a north-south tennis court, mature gardens and hedges to maximise privacy.
The house has more than 600sqm of internal living space — larger than many house blocks in Sydney — and is a solid double brick and concrete construction.
There are plenty of formal and casual living and dining spaces throughout the home, as well as a gas kitchen, and home office with adjoining bathroom.
The lower level is designed for fun, with a billiard/games room and bar that opens to the terrace, heated pool and tennis court.
Other features include a gym, cellar, lots of storage and triple garage.
The property is close to the bus stop and train station, as well as private schools and Killara High School.
