A pensioner has won three luxury units across SEQ worth $2.3million.

An SEQ pensioner was hanging out her washing when she was told she’d won three luxury apartments, $425,000 in gold and a $40k gold bonus.

The Gold Coast woman – who was a strong RSL advocate with a daughter-in-law, two sons and a brother in the Defence Force – took out the RSL Art Union’s draw 363 on Wednesday morning.

When RSL Art Union general manager Tracey Bishop introduced herself on the phone, the winner responded “you’re not calling me to tell me I’ve won, are you?”.

The pensioner has won this apartment in Brisbane’s Margaret Street.

The RSL Art Union made the announcement in a statement with the prize – worth $2.3million – a “Queensland Trifecta” of apartments across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.

Rented out, all three could see the pensioner earn an estimated $84,760 a year.

This unit at Caloundra is one of three she now owns.

She now also owns a unit at Marine Parade, Biggera Waters.

The winner, who bought a $20 book, also won an additional $40,000 in gold that prompted her to respond: “I’ll be off my old age pension. This win couldn’t have come at a better time”.
