Perfection for Ash Barty to come home to
Ash Barty, now world number two in tennis at just 23, deserves every bit of the accolade she’s getting, so we’ve turned assistant to line up a few options for her to come home to.
Barty won $3.7m after taking out the French Open over the weekend, and is now the highest ranking Australian woman in the tennis world since Evonne Goolagong in the 70s.
The Ipswich-born woman has won over $14m in her tennis career, but if she want to put latest winnings to good use in real estate, here are some dream homes worthy of a champion.

‘Saddest house in the street’
On Brisbane’s northside, five minutes from Westfield Chermside, is what could be the perfect hide-out for the tennis pro.
The 0.55 hectare property at 246 Maundrell Terrace in Aspley is open for expressions of interest, and it has dual street access — so loads of potential for the future.
Agent Jay Wu of Ray White Bridgeman Downs listed it as a “five-star residence” that was “head and shoulders above anything else”. It has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and parking for five vehicles.
One of the star features was the “recently resurfaced full-sized tennis court with lights, plus court-side pavilion with sink”.
“The full-sized tennis court will be a hit with your active family, and you can watch all the action in comfort from the court-side entertainer’s pavilion,” was how the agent described it.
“There’s also plenty of opportunity for further development (STCA) on the enormous rear lawn with street access.”
Closer to Barty’s current hometown of Ipswich was a large 2.35 hectare estate in Anstead at 513 Hawkesbury Road. The five bedroom, three bathroom, eight car space property was open for offers, and comes with an array of features including pool and tennis court that make it the ultimate escape for a star.
“When work is over, the patio and pool are the place to be — enjoy quality family time or entertain in style,” was how agent Zac Ryan of Place Graceville described it in the listing.
“The tennis court on the opposite side of the home gives you space to enjoy a game or for the kids to play.”
“Along with a double carport and double garage there is also a fully powered four bay shed with awning. The property is fully fenced with an electric entry gate, complete with a bore, rain water tanks, vegetable gardens and horse stables.”
Barty would have so much room she could probably put in a cricket pitch too if she wanted to as well.
One of the best million-plus value buys on the market right now for Barty may well be 203 Sugars Road — also in Anstead.
The 1.08 hectare property has “open usable paddocks, stunning swimming pool, tennis court, gardens and lush lawns” was how agent Benjamin Smith of Brisbane Real Estate Indooroopilly listed it.
“This is a home and a lifestyle that is envied by many and an incredible opportunity to enjoy acreage living with transport, schools and shops at your fingertips.”
It even has a wet bar for those celebrations, a large outdoor entertainment area with all weather pergola and the tennis court is floodlit — so no excuses not to get out there and hit a few balls.
