This property at 2 Maidie St, Highton sold after eight days on the market.

A ONE-owner home in Highton’s prized Queens Park precinct has sold for almost $100,000 above expectation after multiple buyers pounced.

The four-bedroom house at 2 Maidie St was scheduled to be auctioned in October but was snapped up just eight days after hitting the market.

Barry Plant, Highton agent Kieron Hunter said the buyers paid $868,000 to secure the large 1060sq m block with a tennis court.

The price guide for the property was $735,000 to $775,000.

Described as a Cape Cod style, the shingled roof house has been owned by the same family since 1979 and is set among leafy established gardens.

Mr Hunter said 40 groups turned out for the first open home and he fielded several offers in the first week of the campaign.

“It was a premium site,” Mr Hunter said.

“It’s a ripper … it’s elevated and it’s got character.”

This living areas has a formal feel.

He said most buyers who looked at the property envisaged replacing the tennis court with a swimming pool.

The biggest drawcard was the location close to Queens Park and the walking trails along the nearby Barwon River.

Both the formal and informal living zones on the entry level open onto an elevated rear deck that overlooks the private backyard.

Upstairs there’s four bedrooms with fantastic storage and a shared bathroom.
