While the updated family home and big backyard at 16 Kerrrong Ct, Shailer Park, will appeal to the adults, the cubby house will surely prove a hit with children.

Owners Peta and Peter Heffernan bought the five-bedroom property almost five years ago and set about revamping it.

Mrs Heffernan said they levelled out the once sloping backyard and modernised the interior of the home.

“The kitchen is all new. It’s been in for 12 months now and it is very flash,” she said.

Mrs Heffernan said the cubby house was a project her husband and four children worked on together.

“They built it from scratch the second year we were here,” she said.

“Peter is a concreter so we’ve got lots of photos of the kids wearing work shirts and boots and helping him build the cubby.

“There is a piece of concrete with all their handprints that we’ll take with us but the cubby will stay.”

The kitchen has stone benchtops, breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances and stacker windows opening to the entertainment area.

The master bedroom has a built-in wardrobe and ensuite while three of the four remaining bedrooms have built-in wardrobes.

The home has a family bathroom, separate toilet and laundry with outdoor access.

The house is on an 890sq m block with a powered shed, carport and second driveway for the boat or caravan.

Mrs Heffernan said the home was great for entertaining and big, secure yard meant the children had plenty of room to play.

“I’ll miss the memories the most when we leave,” she said.

“On a Saturday we would sit out the back patio having a drink and watching the kids play football.”

The property is on the market through Melinda Lee-Ball of Belle Property Cornubia.
