It’s a shopper’s dream come true – retail therapy on the doorstep of your own home.

Residential property developer Blackburne is about to embark on a new project that will see a spot of shopping closer to reach, with 94 high-end apartments built next to Karrinyup Shopping Centre, 12km north of Perth.

Shopping centre manager AMP Capital says Blackburne will develop the complex on the eastern side of the shopping centre, which is undergoing an $800 million redevelopment.

Apartments will be available in one, two and three bedroom configurations, as well as penthouses, when the development is released for sale later this year.

AMP Capital WA Divisional Development Manager for Shopping Centres Scott Nugent says mixed-use development is a trend being embraced locally and nationally.

“By combining shopping, dining, entertainment and living, we’ll be creating a lively community hub where people can meet, relax, shop, dine or enjoy unique experiences close to their own home,” Nugent says.

“Retailers will also benefit from having residents right on their doorstep, contributing to the vibrancy of the centre beyond 5pm.”

Blackburne managing director Paul Blackburne says the project presents a unique opportunity to create larger, higher-end homes in a premium location.

“On the east side of Karrinyup Shopping Centre, the elevated site provides incredible views over Lake Gwelup, surrounding parklands and the city skyline,” Blackburne says.

The development is located just minutes from Trigg Beach, one of Perth’s most popular beaches for board riding. 

“By combining shopping, dining, entertainment and living, we’re presenting buyers with a level of convenience and connectivity that has not previously been seen before in Perth.”

Construction is due to start in mid-2020, with completion scheduled for mid-2022.
