Richmond fan scores Ferntree Gully investment buy with late bids
A Tigers fan has snatched a last-minute auction win to accompany his team’s premiership.
The buyer from the city saw the online listing for 353 Scoresby Rd, Ferntree Gully at 11pm on Grand Final eve and turned up for the auction in the morning.
He was the first to arrive at the auction but waited till towards the end to join the bidding and needed only a couple of bids to win the keys.

The auction was the only one in the suburb as auction numbers dipped over the long weekend.
The $766,000 result gave the vendors some $85,000 over their reserve, Ray White Ferntree Gully agent Lar Potimoy said.
“Holding the auction on the Grand Final did not affect the price because we had a good crowd and six bidders,” she said.
“The buyer said they were going off to watch the game after buying the property.”
The bidders comprised mainly young family buyers, but the new owner is an investor who will lease out the four-bedroom, two-bathroom property on 735sq m.
The property sits opposite Fairhills High School and features a pool and landscaped gardens.
“Our recent auctions have done well with buyers coming to Knox from all over the city, including Hawthorn and Balwyn, as properties here are cheaper,” Ms Potimoy said.
In another strong result a week earlier, she sold 51 Balladonia Rd, Rowville for $813,000, which was $103,000 above the reserve.
There were also six bidders for that four-bedroom house on 785sq m.
