School holidays put brakes on lower north shore auctions
With the school holidays now in full swing, the auction offerings on the lower north shore have all but ground to a halt.
According to realestate.com.au, there are only three properties scheduled to go under the hammer this weekend — and just one of them is a house.

Significant $16m estate comes to market
That house is at 34 Glover St, Mosman. Max Wagschall, of The Agency — North, said there had been strong interest in the three-bedroom home, with 65 groups through in the lead-up to the auction.
“It is ideal for a smaller family or a downsizer and that has been where we have seen a lot of the interest,” he said.
The single-level home is on a north-east-facing corner block in a sought-after street, within walking distance of both Mosman and Cremorne villages.
Features include an elegant lounge with Jetmaster fireplace, separate dining room, deck overlooking the level lawn, stone kitchen with Miele gas stove, oven and dishwasher, lockup garage, ducted airconditioning, and TouchNav security.
The home has a guide of $3.1 million, and will be open for inspection on Saturday from 12.45pm, ahead of the 1pm auction.
Mr Wagschall and Shane Slater, both of The Agency — North, have more details.
It will be a quieter week for Mr Wagschall, whose other property due to go to auction sold prior for well over its price guide.
The well-located, two-bedroom apartment at 28/4 Rangers Rd, Neutral Bay sold for $1.47 million, exceeding the $1.3 million bidding guide.
Mr Wagschall said there was a sense of urgency among buyers at the moment, and some felt pressured by the lack of stock.
“They feel they are pushed into a bit of a corner at the moment,” he said.
And then there is the spectre of Christmas, which doesn’t bear thinking about — unless of course you want to be in your new home by then.
“If you’re not buying something in the next couple of weeks, you won’t be in until after Christmas,” Mr Wagschall said.
