It’s a golden time to snap up a deal in the Territory and this home comes with extra bite.

Ted Plevnik is selling his five-bedroom home in Bees Creek, complete with a custom-built crocodile enclosure — and he’ll throw in the crocs for free.

He bought the property in 1984 and has worked to build his own slice of heaven since.

The 2ha property also includes a pig pen, two horse stables, a horse paddock and yard which is able to house camels.

Mr Plevnik explained he wanted to build a property capable of housing horses. From Austria he moved to New South Wales where his love of horses grew from working on a farm.

“I wanted horses again, my life was around horses,” he said.

“I went past Alice Springs one day and I saw those camels down there, so I got two camels and a horse.”

In 2012 he welcomed crocodile Gem and a year later, Boris.

He has developed a special relationship with his crocodiles.

If a buyer is interested in keeping Boris, Gem and other animals on the property, they come for free.

“If they don’t want them (crocodiles), which is a high probability, then they will have a place to go,” he said.

“They’re not going to turn into handbags.”

Once he sells, Mr Plevnik will settle in Forrest Beach in Queensland with his wife.

LJ Hooker salesperson Elva Pearce listed the property last week and at its first open, had more than six potential buyers come through.

“I’ve never sold a property like this before,” she said.

“The high ceilings are just amazing … everything he’s done is very good quality.”

Ms Pearce said the property would suit a family eager to add their own touch to the home.

“With wide verandas all around, you could turn it into paradise,” she said.
