Constructed using 325 tonnes of stone, this WA manor home was a labour of love for the owner-builder who also created a three-hole golf course on the home’s grounds.

Located in the coastal town of Denmark, the home features stone plucked from Mount Shadforth and Mount Barker.

Set on more than 4ha of land backing onto a natural bush reserve, the ambitious project was completed in 1996 and includes the unusual addition of a three-hole golf course.

Selling agent Rob Mason, from Mason Realty Albany, says the custom-built country estate at 135 Sheoak Drive is a one-off real estate proposition that would be difficult to replicate.

The property was sold by its creator to the current owners in 2012 for $2.12 million and has now been listed for sale for $1.15 million, with the vendors keen to return to the state’s north-west.

“It was originally a builder’s own home. He built it himself and had a real love of timber and stone,” Mason says.

“That property sold for over $2 million when they bought it, so it represents some pretty amazing value. There are some good options in terms of the buildings with the main house, the studio, the garage/shed and the main big shed.

“It’s a relatively new build. It’s built with locally sourced stone and a lot of reclaimed timber from local wool stores and bridges, plus wagon wheels have been used as windows. It’s a pretty quirky home, and certainly, there’s only one like it.”

The four-bedroom, two-bathroom main home features two stone fireplaces, custom-made timber French doors that lead out to a 3m wide wrap-around bullnose veranda, and hand-crafted jarrah doors and window frames.

Upstairs, the master suite has a balcony overlooking the lake as well as an office, two walk-in robes and a store room.
