The opening bid was $4.8 million, with the auction progressing smoothly to the sale price, which was above vendor expectations.
Selling agent Lawrence Chong of Richardson and Wrench Strathfield said the result was proof the market is heading in the right direction.
“A luxury home like this always draws strong buyer interest,” he said.
The buyer was a family from the inner west.
The property has a designer kitchen with 70mm stone benchtops, Miele appliances and a walk-in pantry.
The interiors are full of marble, granite, travertine and brush box floors, while there is also a pool, wine cellar, a sauna, gym and professional home theatre with wet bar.
