Live the resort lifestyle at home

The 2ha estate at Jane Place in Dural was on the market for nine months.

The magnificent six-bedroom residence — which comes with six bathrooms and two powder rooms — features stately formal rooms, family areas, a massive kitchen, a wine cellar and a private self-contained apartment. There is also a 12m heated swimming pool and tennis court on the manicured parklike grounds.

Agent Darren Curtis from Christie’s International said details of sale could not be released.

The home was renovated by its vendors David and Jodi Ansell.

“It is rural living within 40 minutes of the CBD, wonderful infrastructure, fantastic gardens and an 800 sqm house on arguably one of Dural’s best streets,” he said.

Vendor David Ansell, head of Dutch coffee company Jacobs Douwe Egberts, and wife Jodi listed the estate on the market after reportedly buying a larger 4ha estate on Sagars Rd in July last year for $7.3m.

According to CoreLogic RP Data, they paid $4.07m for the Jane Place property in March 2015.

The home was built 20 years ago but its gardens are 30 years old.

The couple undertook substantial renovations to the estate, adding state-of-the art equestrian facilities which now include stables, a dressage arena, tack and feed room, a recovery yard and two paddocks. It was reportedly their daughter’s love of horses which initially bought the family to the semirural suburb.

It is not the only high-end home to sell in The Hills this week, with a seven-bedroom mansion, in Hemers Rd, Dural believed to have sold for around $7 million.

The house has 800sqm of internal space including a massive kitchen.

The stables are part of the equestrian facilities.

“Essentially — not speaking specifically about the deal — since the result of the Federal election there is definitely been an uplift in the feeling of confidence,” Mr Curtis said.

“To a degree there have been people sitting on their hands, not making a decision and we, as an agency, are confident there are now some very capable buyers around and the outcome of the election has acted as a catalyst allowing people to make decisions. This is why you are seeing some results not only in Dural but across Sydney.”

The double-storey home, which features polished floorboards and high ceilings, was built 20 years ago, however, its beautiful grounds have been maintained for 30 years.
