Tim and Dee had Medallion Homes build their Wolseley Rd property to exacting standards in 2009, creating an entertainer’s delight their family and friends have enjoyed for the past decade.

“We wanted somewhere where we could have a tennis court and a pool and have a decent- sized house as well,” Tim says.

“We were originally looking closer to the beach and then my wife saw this spot, and the more we drove around the more it felt like a little village and we thought it was really nice. We were living down in Clovelly Park before and this was our first experience of Hills living.”

The home features up to five bedrooms, or four and a 5m x 4.1m study. The master suite is set near the front of the home and features a walk-in robe and an ensuite with a shower, a toilet and a double vanity. “We’ve got older boys now and when they were living here it worked perfectly,” Tim says. “There’s plenty of room, to the point where sometimes you don’t even know they’re there and you’ve got to go looking for them. There’s plenty of room for everyone.”

“We were looking to create a resort-style property and it’s certainly been used that way,” Tim says. “We’ve done a lot of entertaining here over the years and it’s great for hosting people. We hosted about 80 people at one particular party with the intention of everyone being outside but it rained, so everyone flowed between the covered entertainment area and the living room and it held everyone comfortably – you wouldn’t have even known there were that many people.”

The couple saw building as their chance to create something beautiful, sparing no expense in creating a home that is both functional and a showcase of quality fixtures and fittings. Some of these include Kauri native timber floors, Caesarstone benchtops, stainless steel Miele appliances, a ducted vacuuming system, a 45000L underground rainwater tank and a 10kw solar system. It is surrounded by low-maintenance landscaped gardens with established trees.

“It was important for us to do it properly, and we really did our homework,” Tim says.

“I am going to miss this place, which is unusual for me because I don’t often get too attached to a house, but I’ve got a lot of elbow grease in this one. While it will be sad to say goodbye to it, it’s too big for us and it’s time to move on. We’re not sure where we’ll go just yet, but it will be really hard to leave the hills because it is nice up here. It’s beautiful in winter, and in the summer it’s a couple of degrees cooler than it is down on the beachfront.”

Tim says the home is ideally located, with Westfield Marion just 10 minutes away and both the beach and city less than a 30-minute drive. He would love to see another family love it as much as his.

“It would be perfect for a young family that’s going to use the court and pool and grow up here,” he says. “Whoever buys it is getting a beautiful home.”
