Where houses are being snapped up quickest in Townsville

PROPERTY in some areas of Townsville is being snapped up fast, with the average house in one suburb selling in less than a month.

The average length of time for a house to be on the market in North Queensland is 61 days, however in 24 Townsville suburbs, houses are selling in less time than that.

The residential suburb of Oonoonba, which was flood-ravaged at the beginning of the year, is the most in demand in the region, with houses selling after a median of 28 days.

This three-bedroom house at 74A Ireland Street in Oonoonba, has had plenty of buyer attention, with it receiving two offers in the first weekend.

The figure is based off the 25 homes sold in the suburb in the 12 months to April this year.

REMAX Excellence Townsville agent Lisa Turner, who is currently marketing a house at 74A Ireland Street in Oonoonba, said she was seeing plenty of interest in the area.

“I had two offers on that property in the first weekend of it being on the market,” Ms Turner said. “Oonoonba is a great suburb for families and I think people are really starting to see the value in it being so close to the city.

“If anything, I am seeing more interest in the area since the floods — especially for the properties that weren’t damaged.”

Houses in Currajong are also selling fast, with the average property in the suburb being snapped up after only 34 days.

Jensen is another popular area, with buyers picking up homes after 35 days on the market.

Houses in Belgian Gardens, North Ward, Wulguru, Hermit Park and Mundingburra are all being snapped up in less than 45 days.
